POCAR Final Results: 2012

Organizers: Brad Thomas, Charles Bellville, Amy Olsen

Summary compiled by: Charles Bellville, Brad Thomas, and Nick Fico

  • This year, racers returned to Hoosier National Forest for one of the longest races in recent POCAR history.  After surviving temperatures that dipped down to 9˚ F, high wire acts and collecting over 30 punches a total of 16 teams finished the race.  This is one third of the total teams that entered the race!  A record by all accounts for such a difficult race course.  The Purdue Outing Club would like to congratulate all participants for fielding the most determined and experienced field we have seen!  Keep it up guys!
  • We would also like to congratulate Bushwacker for winning the open division and completing the course in 16 hours and 57 minutes.  Sofa Kingdom was the fastest collegiate team this year completing the race in 33 hours and 55 minutes.  Congratulations guys!  Members of both teams will have free entry for POCAR 2013.  We would also like to recognize Follow the White Rabbit for hanging tough and completing the race in 47 hours and 44 minutes!  You guys are awesome!
  • The Race organizers would like to thank all of our volunteers from the Purdue Outing Club who kept the fires going, and patrol cars driving to make this race run safe and smooth for everyone.  We would also like to give special thanks to HAM Radio guys! These guys do an absolutely incredible job and we could not run the race without you!  Finally, thank you for all the racers willing to come out and slog through all manner of weather and terrain in the name of fun!  We hope to see you all again next year.
