Hello POC friends!
Spreak '15 is so close all of your POC instincts should be going crazy! Hopefully all of you are doing some of the super and totally rad trips that are going out!

This is what happened:

Some super cool kiddos went to the climbing lock-in over the weekend and had a super rad time. There was pizza and games and lots of climbing! Here is a super cool video that Billy Simek made:
Next week the demo will be first aid, come by and check it out so you know how to take care of yourself in case you become injured on a Spreak trip.
This is what is happening:
Unfortunately one of our gear consultants resigned this past weekend and our new gear consultant is Blaine Marlatt! Woo!
Elections will be coming up right after Spreak! We will be holding elections on March 31st. All positions are up for grabs and if you were at the meeting you saw that we have a lot of graduates, so get involved and run for something. You can nominate all the way up until the day of! Here is the link to nominate people:

This is what is going to happen:
There is a caving trip going out this weekend that is already full, BUT, there will be lots of caving trips going out after Spreak so make sure you keep your eye on the email list for those. There is another ice climbing trip going out this weekend. They are going to PeeBody Ice Climbing: There is still space so if you wanna have a super awesome weekend climbing some ice click this link: 
Ryan and Sara are holding a route cleaning clinic at 500 Hayes this weekend on Sunday at 3pm. If you don't know what route cleaning is watch this video:
To participate you need to be able to top rope belay. Space is very limited! Once the clinic is over there will be some snacks and maybe a climbing video.If you're interested in doing this click the link: 
The backpacking trip to Gila Wilderness for Spreak is closed and sounds super duper awesome sauce! If you know you are going make sure you talk with Erik by next week in order to figure out rides and how to pack and all that jazz. There is a backpacking/mountain biking Spreak trip going to the Smokey Mountains. Spots are sorta filled but if you would like to be put on the waiting list you can email Sam Moan, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and he will let you know if a spot opens up!
Right after Spreak is over there will be a bouldering competition, Boiler Up: Protect What's Holy on March 28. Here is the Facebook page for the event: 
Registration is $30 if you do it before the day of. Registration the day of it $35. Everyone is welcome to participate there is something for everyone! Don't be afraid to try! If nothing else go to the competition and cheer on fellow climbers! If you would like to participate in the event, print the registration form and bring it to 500 Hayes or POC meeting and find Ryan. If you thought POCAR is cool image that but in water! Well sorta...Campus to Coast is a 160 mile, 57 hour paddle race in Michigan that MSUOC puts on. MSUOC always sends people to POCAR so its nice for us to participate in Campus to Coast. If you're interested in doing this, email Stephan This email address is being protected from spambots. Cover Indiana is a cycling tour that starts in Lafayette, going down through southern Indiana and then ends in Indy. It is taking place the week after finals so its kinda a fun way to start off your summer! The best part is, Purdue students don't have to pay for the registration fee! Even if you didn't make it on one of the Spreak trips do something awesome! The gear closet is at your disposal for this kinda stuff!! Don't forget if you checking out any climbing gear that isn't shoes or a harness you need approval!
